Scar Camouflage
Scar camouflage is a highly personalised treatment designed to reduce the appearance of scars by carefully implanting custom-matched pigment into the skin. Rather than removing a scar, the treatment helps it blend more naturally with the surrounding skin, making it significantly less noticeable. Every scar is unique, which is why successful scar camouflage relies on a thorough assessment, careful planning, and an individualised approach.

Mission
At Cheshire Medical Aesthetics, we understand that scars can affect confidence as much as they affect appearance. Whether your scar is the result of surgery, injury, burns, or another cause, we take the time to ensure that treatment is both safe and appropriate for your individual circumstances.
Scar camouflage is only performed on mature, stable scars, typically those that are at least 12 months old, although this can vary depending on healing. If a scar is still changing colour, raised, inflamed, or actively healing, treatment may be postponed until the skin is ready.
In some cases, we may recommend additional treatments beforehand, such as medical microneedling or other scar revision therapies, to improve the texture of the scar before introducing pigment. This ensures the best possible outcome.
How Scar Camouflage Is Achieved
The treatment uses advanced medical tattooing techniques to implant specially selected pigments into the scar tissue. These pigments are individually blended to closely match your surrounding skin tone, helping the scar visually blend into the adjacent skin. As the pigment settles during healing, the colour softens and integrates with the skin. Some clients achieve their desired result after one treatment, while others benefit from two or more sessions to gradually build the most natural-looking result.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to scar camouflage.
The characteristics of each scar determine how it will respond to treatment. Factors such as scar location, skin type, previous treatments, pigmentation, and lifestyle all influence the treatment plan. During your consultation, we will explain what can realistically be achieved and provide honest expectations regarding the likely outcome.
We believe that realistic expectations are an essential part of achieving patient satisfaction.
